New member
I own a Force 40 1991 and got a lot of problems with. I had to change all electronics, it did not work when engine was hot.
Now I can lift the outboard up but it is not going down. I have to switch cables plugs on the side of the engine and the outboard goes down but not up. I am tired of switching these cables to get a proper function. Where is the problem ?

For sure it helps. Going back to Canada in 2 weeks, with this wiring diagram I will be able to test if one relay is dead or the trim switch is faulty. Trim switch more likely to have to be replaced.

To me the trim switch is faulty because when I swap the wires feeding the relays, the outboard goes up or down. This means both relays are working. Probably a wire is off the trim switch. I tried before to dismantle the switch, but did not find the manner without breaking anything. Another problem to solve!
