1989 Mercruiser 3.0 Harmonic Balancer install

I have a 1989 mercruiser (GM) 3.0 that I am replacing the harmonic balancer on. The old one separated and the pulley came off. Got the old one off pretty easy with a standard H/B puller set but there is no bolt on the end of the crankshaft to pull the new one back on. Other than a big hammer and a block of wood to pound it back on, is there another way to press it on without damaging the thrust bearing? Thought about heating the new balancer a little to expand it (heat expands metal?) and trying a plastic deadblow hammer to put it on, or possibly rigging some kind of press bolted to the front motor mounts?

Any suggestions? Thanks

If yo live in the states, we don't know because you didn't fill in your profile info, go to your local auto parts store like Advanced Auto and rent their balancer installer.
