Force power head swap

Want to replace a force 40hp 2cyl 1995 with a 92 to 94 power head. I know the adapter plates are different. If possible, which adapter plate would be used and are there any other complications with this power head swap? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mercury used their parts starting in 94 if the plates are different they probably won't work.
