please help with id on this johnson outboard (with photos)

New member
just inherited this from my dads estate last year...am new to boating,but want to get into it.
I think it is somewhere around 1997, 98 but not too sure. the engine cover says Johnson and a large 90.
cant find any id numbers except what looks to be a small metal cap on the side of the motor (see pic)
I want to find a repair manual for this and want to be sure its going to be the right one...

any help will be much appreciated!

care to make a guess as to which model it is?
I got 6 possible's, and have no idea what the letters mean....its hard being blonde.. :]

Likely if you measure from where it hangs on the transom to the cavitation plate it will measure 21 or 22 inches.-That would make it a long shaft model.
 
thank you racerone for your help..I Think I got it...and I really do appreciat your help!

I think your right about it being a 1997...just spoke to my sister on the phone...she confirms the year my dad bought it.
and laughed at me...said I'm gonna be just like him (my dad) and should "just send her my money instead of throwing down into the bottomless pit that is boating"....
