2000 Bravo 3 Seawater Strainer

Hi everyone
I've been wanting to put a seawater strainer on the "out" side of my pump to catch any pieces of Impeller that might break off and travel to the oil cooler, heat exchanger etc. This happened to me last year and we found pieces in the heat exchanger.
It seems like an easy modification putting on an in-line strainer . Any recommendation on product and hose size?

Change the impeller every two years and you will not need a strainer.

Ayuh,.... Really,.... alittle Maintenance goes a loonnngggg ways,...

Sea strainers always go on the suction side, Don't they,..??

Thanks guys, I wasn't trying to avoid proper maintenance, As I mentioned about a year ago I sucked up a plastic bag and had to change out my then 4 month old impeller. Finding the pieces was difficult.

Strainer will not help as it has to be plumbed in before the pump. They are not meant to be pressurized.

I can't seem to find the answer to this simple question so hopefully I can get it here. Do all 5.7 Bravo III Mercuisers have seawater strainers?

Nope, most pull water from the drive, though there are screens at the pick-up,...
