This will be my first attempt to separate my lower unit. Any pointers for me? I am investigating a knocking noise in the mid section of my motor, after reading the forums it appears to be the a good place to start looking for the cause of the knocking.
 
So did you sesperate? Frustrating sounds like mid shaft bushing once again.. midsection super easy to breakdown just be careful when putting shift tube and shaft back in case not to force. Many people including me have screwed up alignment of shift shaft. By forcing it back k up
