Sometimes when the motor is at idle or stopped and you hit the trim switch
all you get is an electrical squeal. (no lift)
When engine is powered up the trim switch seems to activate fine.
Any idea' what I should be looking for ?

Sounds more like an electrical problem to me - not getting enough current to run the t/t motor properly at engine idle speed. Check the connections to the t/t motor, clean and seal. Also, check your alternator output at idle, and your battery output at idle.

If could here the sound like motor is free turning,it is lack of oil,but if motor turning hard when engine stopped or low RPM it could be electric problem, low current supply, open trim motor wire from the connector and supply 12V and see whether its working fine, then u can make sure problem in the motor or electrical supply.

Motor starts up fine, neither the remote switch nor the engine mounted switch will operate the tilt trim now.
There is power going to the unit, but I think there most be a corroded wire or connection that is preventing
full 12v current from operating it.
