Yamaha 50 hp leaking oil from water suction

just baught my first boat
my yamaha 50hp is leaking oil from the water suction I was wondering what this means and what I can do to fix this. I am extremely handgun can fix myself if I know what the problem is please help
 
Normally a mechanic would drain the lower unit and do a pressure test on it.-----Your appraoch may be different ?---------Yamaha oil seals may be rubber coated all over.-This rubber changes with time and seals may become loose and shift out of position thus causing a leak.----Might be worth while to remove the lower unit.-Then remove the water pump and look at the seals on the driveshaft.
