Oil leak, back of 454

I noticed this when I pulled my trans yesterday. It's a pretty good leak which starts high and runs down but not the valve covers, I did all four last year and that area is dry. It almost looks like the leak is the intake manifold between the head (to the left) and below to the block. This is facing the trans end of the engine, left side.

What do you guys think? I won't be able to do any real testing until next year but could take a shot at a fix while I'm out.

Bob, when we bought our boat my portside had a similar leak. A few of my intake manifold bolts were loose. I tightened them and it stopped. You might check this first.

Well, the intake doesn't have oil going directly thru it, and your leak appears above the head gasket, which does seal oil. I'd agree with Mike suggestion to torque the intake man. bolts to see if some are loose. The intake man. will let splashing oil leak thru loose gaskets. The other known leaker is the rtv'd joint on the flat area from intake man to block.
