BF130 1999 changing camshaft seal

You have probably already changed your seal....

I would line the #1 piston up to top dead center and the #1 on the cam should align with the timing mark. The book calls for a ring gear locking tool....which you use by removing the starter and locking the flywheel in place with the special tool. Since I doubt you want to spend over $100 for the locking tool, once you align the timing marks, put the motor into gear and also put a wrench on the crankshaft pulley and somehow fasten the other end of it to the lift eye or some other immovable object on top of the engine. Since you are just trying to hold it still and are not exerting any real pressure, the piston should say in place.

Take off the cam pulley. Once you get the pulley back on, you just align it with the timing marks where you started.
