1988 4.3l. lower trim

I have a 1988 OMC 4.3l cobra. I just got it. It needs a new starter, but I can't afford one right now.
I have winterized it. It's ready to put to bed for our long winter. The lower unit is in the up position.
Is there a way I could lower it without any power? Another words manually?

Ayuh,.... The trim system should be independent of the starter,...

It oughta go down, Without startin' the motor,...

Or,... Just pull the aft pin outa the rams, 'n lower the drive,...

Hook up the battery and lower.
Do what Bondo suggests but grease the shiny part of the rams.
If not they can/will rust and ruin the seals and T+T fluid will leak and you'll end up replacing the rams.
Undoing the hyd lines under the cover will release the pressure and they should both come down.
