prop shaft bearings

What is the nature of the problem ?-------Bearings are pressed into the housings and can be removed with heat.---But the bearing also rides on the propshaft and likely the propshaft is damaged as well.----Was the unit full of water ??

Hi thanks for the reply. I just changed the oil And it did not appear to have water in it but I was not happy with the color a sort of grey colour ,not milky . I pulled the prop off and when I turn the prop shaft by hand it dosent turn smoothly .It sort of binds in one spot

I think your best bet is to take the lower unit apart.---------Then inspect all the parts and then decide.------Does the oil look like it has tiny metal flakes in it ?--Any metal bits on the drain plug magnet.

I didnt notice any. The oil didnt feel like it had any metal in it . It had a very strong odour to it . Im only trying to make it last over XMas as I am going on holidays fo 2 weeks after that Ill fix it properly cheers Alan.
