Hi, is the idle speed stabilizer required on an outboard? What happens if you don't trust it and remove it? Does the motor idle rough but still run? My motor is a 1979 Black Max 175HP. Thanks for assistance.

Nope....is the idle speed stabilizer required on an outboard?
Not much of anything as it only operates if engine droppd below 600-700 rpm then it would bump up timing to keep it from possibly dieing and possibly loading up such as in a long no wake zone. What happens if you don't trust it and remove it?
You have other problems if idling rough as only works if rpm is low....Does the motor idle rough but still run?
