90HP Mercury - Tapping sound (I belive in motor) after bogging down in shallow water

I was wondering if anyone could help with a prognosis on a 90HP Mercury. Our lake is low and coming in to marina I bottomed out at a slow speed (maybe 1-2 mph). After I got out of low water I pulled motor up and saw no damage to prop or lower unit (Fin in good shape). Although, I did start hearing a tapping in motor - I shut down immediately to diagnose. What are your thoughts on what this could be?? I am thinking drive shaft or lifters?? I don't know- If anyone could provide some information -It would be appreciated.
 
No lifters in a 2 stroke , so is it a 4 stroke motor?----Is it a 3 cylinder or a 6 cylinder motor ?---------Exact information gets you answers.--------Pictures , year, serial # required here.

Thanks for reply - Serial # of motor is a BUJ97868C898 - They call it a Mercury 90hp Bigfoot - it is on a 1998 Sun Tracker Pontoon. It is 6 cylinders and it is a 2 stroke.
