water in bell housing

The boat I purchased must have sank on the lift and water got into the bell housing. I drained it and dried it the best I could with out removing the hydro drive (transmition). I am going to add some motor oil to lube things up and try to stop any more rust from occurring. Any thoughts on the matter?

Hydro drive? Outdrive? Or straight shaft?

If outdrive, bellows is cracked. This blows out the shaft seal and you end up with water in the boat.
If you keep running with water in the bellhousing, flywheel will shoot water into the starter cavity and blow the starter.
