I got a 40 hp mariner (40 E 6E9 s 104752), 1985 2 cylinder outboard. Basically a copy of those old Yamaha fm series.
I'm in the process of changing the thermostat, and wandering how much I have to torque thermostat housing bolts.
Also, I cracked off a bolt in one of the 4 thermostat housing retaining bolts. Would 3 out of 4 bolts hold in the thermostat housing cover well enough?
Also, I used JB weld to hold a compromise bolt in there (only now it fits relatively snug). Will that hurt anything?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
All the best.
