hello I bought a 1981 Evinrude 25 Work twin last night. I was looking the engine over today and was noting how large it looks for a 25 horse. is there an actual performance and size difference between a work twin commercial engine and a typical 25 evinrude engine ?

thanks

the lower unit on those motors used to be really beefed up...physically much bigger..dont know about the engine itself...the 88 and 90 during those years used to be used as work motors for companies like j ray mcdermott down here also..

Don't know about that one in particular, but Work Twins are usually based on past models. Does it have thru-prop-hub-exhaust? I'm guessing not.

Agreed the word " commercial " on some models was used to get rid of some old parts inventory.----------On some of the bigger models the 45 HP 2 cylinder used a 3 cylinder gearcase and gears.-------On some V-4 models they used a V-6 gearcase.-------As far as engine components there was no difference in part #'s for the commercial and pleasure motors.
