firing order for aq131a 4 cylinder Volvo Penta

hi I have a4 cylinder Volvo Penta and I know wthe firing order is,but my question is if the number one piston is closest to the valve that being number one with the next piston be number 2 and so on towards the back of the motor or is the firing order also the same as the distributor cap and it would be 1342??thanks for your help
 
All engines designate the furthest cylinder forward as being the #1 cylinder.
For an inline engine, the next cylinder behind this would be #2, and so on towards the rear.

The same would apply to the V engines with exception to Ford being one that deviates from this.
