350Q Died....but why?

OK, now I have another problem with one of my 350Qs. Both engines now have new caps, rotors, plugs, and wires. New carbs, filters and rebuilt mechanical pumps. New 160 degree thermostats and 2lb pressure spring valves in the exhaust risers.

Everything has been GREAT except on Friday I was cruising at 20 mph @ 22-2300 RPMs and the starboard engine just died. I was alone so I could not give up the helm and check her out until I got back.

The quit was so sudden I thought the coil wire had come off. When I popped the hatch, low and behold it was a plug wire off....but not the coil wire. She is getting plenty of fuel and cranks, but will not start.

Can a wire coming off while running damage the coil? I should mention this is a Petronix system. How do I trouble shoot? I'm not good with electrical/electronics but I do have a volt meter. Help!
