Co-Pilot shuts off.

I am new here and here is my question. I have a co pilot on my pd55. This spring I bought a new remote as I misplaced the old one. When using it a few weeks back it shut down with the audible "2 chirps." When I try to turn it on again it immediately shuts down again. That day bass fishing I was able to get it to work but not for the remainder of the day. I do have the plug in foot pedal to use. Anyone have issues like this. The pd55 is about 6 years old. Co pilot maybe 5 years. I took the co pilot off a month ago and cleaned behind it. Any ideas??

I took the co pilot off and played with the remote too. The chirping originates from the box on the back of the co pilot. I have it staying on now when I turn the remote on. Don't know if it will cooperate for long. I am sure it's out of warranty.
