I have a Chevy 350 in a 1978 searay how do you know if the fuel pump is going out . The vent line dumps gas in the front bowl when at ideal. I was told that is a sigh when the fuel pump is going out!

it isn't "going out"; its diaphragm has ruptured and the entire unit needs to be replaced.

Would that make the boat fall on it's face st full throttle.

A big + 1 on that!
Don't mess around.... just replace it with a new fuel pump that is Marine approved.
