New Distributor Cap Question

Is putting a small amount of dielectric grease on the center post on the inside of the distributor cap where it contacts the rotor OK to do? I thinking it might help to keep it from getting pitted.
 
no, never heard of it. the grease is an insulator and that where the carbon button transfers the hi voltage from the coil.
