I have a 1986 mercury 8 hp 2 stroke that runs great. I just had the oil changed and have put a new propeller hub on it. I also lubricated all places that have a grease fitting. The motor runs great and idles good. The only problem is it has suddenly been running hot lately. I can see that the water pump is working because I can see water coming out of the hole on the back of the motor. One thing that I have noticed is that the water is not coming out as fast and also that the water is not coming out when the motor is idling. Could this have anything to do with it? Suggestions as to why the motor is running hot?

Where could I buy a impeller for my motor?

Do not buy an impeller. Buy a water pump kit. It will come with a new impeller, a new water pump base, housing, and all gaskets needed to change the water pump assembly. Also buy a thermostat & thermostat housing gasket. This is the right way to do it. You can buy one through any Mercury dealer, marina, or probably even order one online.
