Which thread sealant for gas line

What do y'all use on the threads of gas lines?

I got some Permatex paste with Teflon (looks kind of like TFE paste) from Autozone and that seems to work pretty well. This is on the 2 fittings between the fuel pump and carb. It is a gooey substance that is applied with a brush integrated with the cap. This stuff work ok? I heard Teflon tape was bad for fuel fittings.

The stringer of Teflon that gets into stuff downstream is BAD, period. However, if the fitting is properly wrapped, then no little stringer of tape can break off and go downstream to cause problems. That's the trick of it.

PST works great for tapered fittings...

The two fittings you are referencing are inverted flare and should NOT need PST (or tape) to seal...

Yes.... sealant on tapered threads only.
You can put a touch of oil on the flared fitting surfaces to ensure that they nestle in and compress together adequately.
