Volvo Penta AQ131 Drive shaft bellows sealant?

I recently replaced my drive shaft bellows on a Volvo Penta AQ131A/275 and did not use any sealant. I have read other post where people have used an additional sealant when installing bellows. Is this necessary for my setup? I have replaced my exhaust and drive bellows in the past without sealant, nor was there any evidence of sealant used previously.
Any advice?
Thanks, Jason.

It is not necessary. However, I have used in the past either Bellows Cement or Perfect Seal. They give me some peace of mind. :)

If the bead grooves are nice and clean, sealant is not necessary. But like Eduardo said, use it if you want to.

More importantly perhaps, is to use the OEM Euro style band clamps.
If you bought Sierra bellows, you'll get the standard worm drive clamps. Toss them out, and re-use the OEM band clamps if they are in good condition.
The Euro style will not grab and pull on the rubber as will the cut worm drive clamps.
