I have a 97 60HP Johnson. When fully warmed up I can troll along fine for a while at an idle and then the motor jumps up to a fast idle. I have been told that this fast idle is to speed up the warm up and is accomplished by an automatic 10 degree spark advance. I have also been told that there have been a lot of problems with this system and a variety of possible sources of the problem. I would appreciate some suggestions. Can I turn this fool thing off?
