    Default 5 HP mariner ID

This is my first post here, IT all started when my old 5 HP mariner wouldn't start. Now I'm looking for some information trying to figure out what I actualy have. I have a ser.# it's 5m 6E3 S 145214. Can anyone help me ID this motor? I'm Having carberator problems and suspect the float measurement is way off, I can guess at the float measurement but would be nice to know what it actualy is. The motor has very little use on as the orginal motor piant is almost like new, thanks for ant help in advance.

Fix minor things (replace wear items for preventative maintenance.) that cause major problems before they break.

Seloc's puts out a great "tune up and repair" manual for the small Yamaha built Mariners (which yours is).

It's called Mariner outboard tune up and repair manual 1977-89 covering 1 and 2 cylinder models. This site sells it for 30 bucks (which is a few bucks cheaper than the list at most other places).

It covers everything from simple maint all the way up to a complete rebuild - great manual (own one myself) and will walk you through carb adjustments or if needed, a rebuild of the carb.
