Honda BF50A Water pump

Hi sushi king......mmmmmmm.....makin me hungry for some tuna nigiri!

YES! Use MARINE grease on any o'rings and on the impeller and the inside of the housing. Make sure that you smear the grease in the housing anywhere the impeller comes in contact with it. That means on the bottom as well as where the vane tips contact. Lightly coat the corresponding areas of the impeller too.

It CRITICALLY needs that lube at initial start up so the pump doesn't overheat from friction. The grease will hang out for a while but after the first few outings, water will be the lubricant so don't ever start the engine without a water supply to the pump.

Make sure that you clean off the main shaft so the impeller slides over it easily and then smear a little grease on the main shaft and shift rod seals while your in there as well.

You can also use the grease to hold the drive key in place while installing the impeller.

Good luck and have fun!
