I have a Mercury Mariner 40EL - a 1987 I think. I need to order parts but what I believe to be the serial number comes up as invalid. Both sides of the transom mounting bracket have the following information:
Mariner 40EL
(Code) 6E9 L
(Serial No) 423520
Is there a different Mercury SN somewhere that I need to find? Can someone point me to the correct parts manual for this?
