oil pressure light on Westerbeke 42B

I have a 1996 Westerbeke 42b four. Last week when returning to the dock after turning off the motor I heard a clicking noise. I removed the engin cover and saw it was the fuel lift pump. Also when I went to the cockpit I saw the OP light was on even after everything was off. I looked at the two wires that go to the lift pump and moved one and the clicking noise stopped, but the OP light stays on by the panel. Is there any way to open the lift pump to check the wires? It looks that they are made in there. What does the fuel lift pump have to do with the OP light? When I turn the key on to start the engine, all is well. Any ideas?
Thanks, Russell
