Model year of my Mercury 6hp

I too have a problem finding out the year of a 6 hp merc I have here, the serial # is 3459896 and has 6hp marked on the side and 60 on the hood, if I run this number on the parts list search it comes back number not found, I guessed it was a 1968 but it has Thunderbolt Ignition on it, any help will be apprecaited as is the other fine information I get from going on this forum.

Yes its from the transom mount and have rechecked it, this is the second merc 6 hp I have had here that the s/n didn't show up in a parts search on MarineEngine.com the other number that didn't register is 2633477? This engine has a thunderbolt iginition on it if that helps.

yes that's a possibility i found it under the 7.5s maybe someone changed the stickers or hood they sometimes do that because some lakes have a hp limit so people will change the stickers to throw others off
