I have a 2001 Bravo1 drive paired with a Horizon 350 Mag MPI motor on a 24ft Grady white. For the last three years, i have had lub leaking from the cap on the top of the drive. I have watched my mechanic replace all three o rings each spring and pressure test the drive and then the leak returns the following year.
The stern drive is serviced and winterized by my mechanic each year and if I recall it is the small o ring at the back of the surface under the cap that has been the cause of the leak. My mechanic said that he has not noted water in the drive lube, and when he does he always notifies the owner. I think there is a little ball valve under that ring, could the valve be bad?
Any thoughts on what could be causing this recurring problem? Called my mechanic and he is at a loss, and will not be able to look at it until next week or after.
