question about outdrive removal, 1985 mercruiser 5.7 with alpha outdrive

hello. i pulled my mercruiser outdrive today, and can anyone tell me if its normal for an oil and water, yellow mixture to come dripping and oozing out and be all inside the housing? i have pictures, i will try to post them. but any advise would be much appreciated. thanks
 
maybe upper carrier seal, maybe just water mixed with grease form excess grease from gimbal bearing.
is gimbal bearing free and moves smoothly?

Is outdrive full of gear oil? is it milkey?

need more info and pictures will help.....
