rebuilt 350 ci v8, engine getting low oil pressure. comes and goes. any ideas

i have 1985 formula 25pc with 350 ci v8. the motor was rebuilt last year and its getting low oil pressure most of the time. some times it comes back but not for long. the oil pump is new. i am gonna try a mechanical gauge, but i can hear and feel the motor and its not getting the correct pressure. any ideas? thanks
 
sounds like the pickup tube isnt doing its job properly, if you changed the sump from original it may not be going down far enough or it could be partially blocked,just because the oil pump is new doesnt meen its working properly has happened to me twice third time the so called NEW pump worked. Hope this helps some.
