How to visually inspect if a starter/alternator is marine grade?

I know why I need marine starters/alternators (all electrical sources sealed) so if you get a fuel leak it will possibly lessen the chance of blowing up. My question is how can I visually look at me starter/alt, take it apart, etc… to make sure it is indeed sealed, I just don’t know what to look for.

I am asking because I have a couple Chrysler 318 starters that have been painted a few times and I don’t see the standard stick on sticker saying marine. These starters are very expensive, and I would like to find out if they are indeed marine.

Thanks
