Seawater cooling turns dark at high revs

when my d30 sail drive runs at revs over 2000rpm the water coming out the hull turns a dark grey. I have two engines as is a catamaran but the engine that has discoloration problem at high revs will not rev as high as the other engine
at revs lower than 2000 the water is clear. It seems to run okay otherwise, please advise.

The engine with the discoloration may be overloading or burning inefficiently. As above, check fuel and air filters first, then check how clean the prop is. It needs to be more or less spotless.
