Hello again, just curious if you can use a generic automotive scanner on an 2004 5.7 fuel injected marine power engine. i have used a marine scanner on a 502 gm crate motor in a truck before. If possible what connector would i use because i have acess to quite a few different scanners from friends. The 502 crate engine had a simple mef system very similiar to what is used on marine applications with all the same systems and the computer was mounted on the intake. I know this particular system is all gm componnents. Has any one had success doing this?

Depends upon what you want to do...if it is only to read the DTCs, then yes. As you have noticed, there aren't readily available cables and I would say you will have to make you own "custom" cable. If you want to get more data out of the ECU, then a "generic" auto scanner isn't likely to be the tool you need.
