Honda BF9.9A/15A oil filter?

So I am very new to engines, and am trying to winterize my Honda BF9.9A/15A for the first time (I think it's a 2002). In doing some online research on how to winterize an outboard, I have read that you need to change the oil filter http://www.ehow.com/how_7301026_carry-store-outboard-motors.html. However, My owner's manual does not list an oil filter. Does my motor have an oil filter? My assumption is that it does not have one, but I wanted to make sure!

Thanks!

Andrew

If you have a BF9.9A you have not oil filter.. there is a screen in the oil sump.

If you have a BF9.9D you do have an oil filter on the starboard side of the engine under the side cover.

In the USA, Honda changed to the "D" model in 2001.

Follow the instructions in the Storage section of the owner's manual for winterization. Download for free from Honda based on the serial number on the frame of the engine. http://marine.honda.com/owners/manuals/models/BF9.9

Thanks for the response Mike! It is an "A", so that means it's not a 2002 I guess (what the seller told me she thought it was). Is there a way I can determine the year? The only nameplate I can find has the serial number (BABL-1202645) but not the year. The owner's manual does not give the year either.
