30hp Tohatsu four stroke oil light problem

We have a fairly new Tohatsu 30 four stroke with only 30 hours use. We leave the engine tilted on the boat for fairly long periods between use. When we come to use it the engine starts immediately but very quickly, say 30 seconds or so, the red light comes on and the engine drops into safe mode. There is the correct amount of clean oil on the dipstick.

I heard there has been a modification to these engines to prevent this but can find nothing on the web.

Anyone else have this problem or had the engine recalled for modification?

Take it in to your dealer under warranty. That's not normal, and there has not been any recall of the 30B models. Have them attach a mechanical oil pressure gauge to confirm the actual oil pressure. You may have a flaky oil pressure sender (failing as it warms).

My Tohatsu 30hp 4 stroke oil light and warning sound come on when I put it in gear but the oil dipstick indicates that it is overful. Yet no oil has been added?

It IS over full. Change the oil and filter. Use non-synthetic 10w-30, FC-W rated oil.
