Marine Power 350s Computer

I have a pair of fuel injected 350 Marine Power engines in my boat. There is only one marina that I can find in the area that has the correct computer/device (I don't know the technical name of it) to put on the engine to get it timed correctly. I put a timing light on it and timed it at 10 degrees per the Marine Power Owners manual, but then learned that fuel injected motors can't be timed that way. So most of you guys are laughing at me right now, I deserve it.

So, another guy on this forum was very helpful and suggested I have the boat put on a diagnosis scan tool to check for codes and problems. Would the scanning device he is refering to be the same as the computer/device I need to time the boat correctly?

Is it affordable to buy one of these devices so I have one?
What is the proper name of this tool?
Where can I purchase one?

I don't like being at the mercy of only one marina in my area with the correct device that they struggled to locate when I called them.

thanks,

Jim
