    Question 25hp conversion

    I have a 2004 M25C3 tohatsu 2 stroke outboard. It is a pull start. Due to shoulder issues, i'm thinking of converting to an electric start. What is the bare minimum I need to make the change. I have a battery on board that can be charged after each outing so a charging circuit isn't absolutely necessary, though would be nice. What would this cost, and can i do it myself. mechanically inclined. Thanks

    i tried looking up the part 3p0763000m to see what the kit contained and it said it was unavailable. is it available and what does the kit consist of. thanks

    The kit is available from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer (including me).

    It includes everything to do the conversion just as it would have been from the Factory if you had gotten the EF (electric start/tiller) motor originally. Some bits are qty 2 or 3 as needed:

    Paul, is the conversion something a mechanically inclined, non motor repair technecian can do? I have the repair manual, but are there other things i need to know before a start this 25hp conversion?

    Yes, it can be done by anyone with average-to-above-average mechanical ability, equipped with a decent set of tools, and the Factory service manual (skip the aftermarket books). It does take a significant amount of time to do the conversion, and requires diligence and patience while working on the motor. There are a lot of small parts, so it's best to study the service manual for a while (to see the differences between electric and rope-only models) before beginning.
