left hand prop

I have a 1975 johnson 70hp that needs a left hand prop. Looking around I don't find many. Most are new ss. One dealer told me I can change that in the shifting box. Not familioar with what to do. Suggestions please? Thanks Butch
 
To me it sure sounds like you have the wrong lower unit for your motor !!----Trust me.------------The early 3 cylinder motors shifted to forward when the shift rod went down.The later ones shifted to forward when the shift rod went up.--------So the fix is the change some linkages on your motor and not in the control box.---------Forget about looking for a different prop !!-------Find a shop / dealer / grey haired mechanic that cares.----It should be a simple fix.
 
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of boats and or mechanics that work on them in this area. I do have another motor that is a bit newer to compare with. maybe i can figure out something. Thanks again.
