Remove Carb '80 Seahorse 7.5hp- J8RCSS

I'm trying to clean the carb but it looks like to get at it I have to pull off the rewind starter. And to get at the starter I have to pull the flywheel.
Am I missing something or is it really this badly designed?

If so is there anything I need to be careful of like springs flying off or anything. I'm no mechanic but I know a little bit.
Any advice is appreciated.

I took a look at that link and it looks good. It's a '72 i think but sounds like a similar set up. I will give it a go today or tmr and let you know how it goes.

If you pull the two top bolts on the recoil, and gently tilt it out of the way enough to gain access to the carb nut.
