I have a 2002 24' Monterey Deckboat with a VP 5.0L GXI with DPS. When I first hit the water, everything runs fine (4K+RPM). Then, after about 5 minutes, the alarm beeps (sometimes 6 or 7 times) and the engine automatically drops down to idle. When the beeps stop, I can throttle back up, but never get above 3K RPM (protection mode?). The alarm/idle routine contines every 2 minutes or so after that (really frustrating!). It reduces frequency of occurrance or goes away if I stay below 3K RPM. The engine never dies and temp and oil pressure look normal. If I go out the next day, it starts all over again? Any help is appreciated!
