testing magneto ignition components

Can anyone refer me to a site to learn how to test ignition components? I have a very basic multi meter from radio shack but am a novice at using it. The motor is a johnson 4r71d. I have taken this apart and put back together around 10 times with no luck! Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANKS, TERRY :confused::confused::confused:
 
Actually a very simple ignition system and points need to be absolutely clean of any lint / oil / dirt.----Points are to be set at 0.020" and if coils are not cracked you should get spark on at least one cylinder.
