Hi Everybody!
New to the boating world and got my first boat! Its an 89 bayliner with an 85 Force Outboard. Engine was running great all last summer and the beginning of this summer then suddenly I had a loss of power and cold starts were non existant. Checked the plugs and wires...getting spark. Getting fuel to the cylinders as well but she won't turn over!
Neighbor who's a mechanic got it started with "cold start" fluid, it warmed up and started after that. But the next day, won't start again.
I cleaned the carbs as well and np varnishing. Checked the fuel pump and gas is moving along. Added gas line antifreeze to the gas to try to separate the water...still no luck.
Was doing more research, and the symptoms also could mean bad Reed Valves, but I was also reading those rarely fail. Any ideas? Or should I take of the carbs and intake adapters to check out the reeds?
Thanks everyone for helping a newb. Any advice would be appreciated.
