I have set the timing to specs,boat runs well at 2000 RPM.If I bump it up to 3000,it will run for about 5-10 min. then its like someone pulled the throttle all the way back,spark knocks.I then put it in neutral,watch the tach,when comes back to 1000,its good to go again.When it started acting up,we checked timing again,it was over 10 degrees off.
Im suspecting the timing advance in the distributor.I changed the points,rotor,condensor,made no difference.Is it possible,the springs are wore out?Where can I get a electronic ignition kit and get rid of them?
