How to Test Starter Solenoid

I have 55EL79C and I am trying to determine if the Starter Solenoid is operating properly. Can anyone tell me how to test the Starter Solenoid?
Thanks

Remove cable at the starter.--------Turn key to start and the solenoid should " click "-----------They are very reliable , much more so than the starter.------Why are you suspecting the solenoid as " trouble "

Just because it clicks does not mean its good. The contacts inside can burn and not make good contact. Google "voltage drop test".

I am trying to determine if my sttarting problem is the solenoid or the starter. Currently the starter will not engage the flywheel. I have fully (100%) charged the battery, cleaned all terminals and the sprocket on the starter will not go up to meet the engine flywheel.

Jump the starter.....go right from pos batt terminal to positive lug on starter. If starter is good it will crank

Jump both larger lugs on solenoid while key in in the "on" position and motor will crank if solenoid and starter are good
