Breaking head bolts free question.

I'll be up at the lake soon to service my '71 6hp and I'm trying to cover all my questions while I have computer access. If the head bolts are siezed, is it OK to use a propane torch on the bolts to loosen them up. Obviosly it close to the combustion chamber with oil deposits etc. and I don't want it to catch fire or anything nasty like that so I wanted to know if this would be a no no. Thank you.

On a fresh water motor they usually come out no problems. ------Heat with a small propane torch where the bolt threads into the block does help on " salty " motors.

Thanks racerone for all your input the last couple days. I don't want the engine to blow up in my face if I have to use heat ;) Most likely the head bolts won't won't be seized, good news.
