I was rafted up next to a guy who has the same Crusader/Velvet drive (straight drive) setup I have in my boat.
He told me about a massive fluid leak he had and wound up pulling the transmission - twice. It turned out the real cause was a $12 "relief valve" (my term) that threads into the top of the transmission that failed.
Can someone tell me exactly what that is? Seems like a good part to have onboard and maybe even proactively change. Mine are '88's with about 900 hours.
thanks
Bob
